Food-Grade FRP Tanks Nigeria — Safe Storage for Food and Beverage Production
Contamination-free water and ingredient storage for Nigeria’s food and beverage producers. Karoch Engineering supplies food-grade FRP/GRP tanks with certified food-safe resins — for potable water, process water, and ingredient storage in compliance with food safety standards.
Your Storage Tank Is a NAFDAC Compliance Risk — Here Is How to Fix It
In Nigerian food and beverage production, the storage vessel is where contamination most commonly enters a process that has otherwise been carefully controlled. Acorroding steel tank introduces iron particles. A cracked concrete tank harbours bacteria. An unlined Braithwaite tank leaches zinc into the water it was meant to protect.
Food-grade FRP tanks eliminate all three risks. The resin system is specified to NSF-61 or equivalent food-safe standards, the smooth interior surface resists biofilm, and there are no coatings to delaminate into your product. For facilities facing NAFDAC audits or export certifications, the quality of your storage infrastructure is not a footnote — it is part of the evidence.
Food-Grade FRP Tank Solutions for Every Stage of Production
▸ Potable water storage — food-grade GRP sectional tanks for water used in production processes
▸ Process water tanks — pre-treatment, filtered, and softened water storage before use in production
▸ Ingredient storage tanks — liquid ingredient storage with food-safe liners and hygienic fittings
▸ CIP (Clean-in-Place) solution tanks — chemical storage for clean-in-place systems
▸ Finished product holding tanks — where applicable, food-contact FRP with appropriate resin certification
▸ Effluent collection tanks — production wastewater collection before treatment or disposal
What Makes a FRP Tank ‘Food-Grade’ — and Why It Matters
Not all FRP tanks are food-grade. Standard polyester resins contain styrene and other compounds that are not suitable for direct water or food-substance contact. Food-grade FRP tanks use an isophthalic polyester or vinyl ester resin that has been tested and certified for potable water or food-contact service — typically to NSF/ANSI 61 or BS 6920.
When ordering from Karoch Engineering, specify food-grade resin at the quotation stage. We will confirm the appropriate resin, supply the relevant material certification, and ensure that fittings and seals are also food-safe. This certification trail is what your NAFDAC auditor or export market buyer will ask to see.
FAQ
Food-Grade FRP Storage — Questions from Food Producers
Can FRP tanks be used for water storage in a NAFDAC-regulated facility?
A: Yes — when specified with a food-grade resin certified to NSF-61 or BS 6920. Karoch Engineering provides the resin certification and material data sheets required for NAFDAC facility audits. Confirm the food-grade specification at the quotation stage.
Can you supply tanks for sachet or bottled water production?
A: Yes — GRP sectional panel tanks with food-grade isophthalic resin are used in sachet and bottled water production facilities across Nigeria. We supply complete tank and fitting packages for water storage at every stage of the production process.
What fittings come with a food-grade tank?
A: Standard fittings include a ballcock assembly, outlet valve, overflow pipe, vent, and manhole cover. All fittings in contact with the stored liquid are food-safe grade — stainless steel or PVDF. Specify food-grade fittings at order stage.
