THE CHALLENGE
The Brief: Corrosion-Proof Storage and Piping in a Produced Water Environment
NNPC’s Rivers State facility required a replacement and expansion of its produced water storage and transfer infrastructure. The existing steel tanks had reached the end of their serviceable life in an H2S and chloride-rich environment — internal corrosion had compromised tank integrity and the associated steel pipework required complete replacement.
The specification called for FRP/GRP tanks and GRP pipework — materials that are inherently immune to the corrosion mechanisms that had degraded the steel system. The project required full system supply, on-site installation, and commissioning to NNPC’s technical and documentation standards.
WHAT KAROCH DELIVERED
Scope of Work — What Was Supplied and Installed
▸ FRP/GRP storage tanks — vinyl ester resin specification for produced water service, sized to process requirements
▸ GRP piping system — gathering and transfer lines, flanged and bell-and-spigot joints, pressure tested to 1.5× design pressure
▸ Structural supports — FRP and steel composite pipe support structures for above-ground pipeline runs
▸ On-site installation — full assembly, jointing, hydrostatic testing, and mechanical commissioning by Karoch Engineering team
▸ Project documentation — material certificates, hydrostatic test records, weld inspection reports (where applicable), and project close-out documentation to NNPC requirements
THE RESULT
Outcome: Delivered on Specification, on Schedule, within Cost
The complete FRP/GRP storage and pipeline system was installed, tested, and commissioned to NNPC’s technical specification. All documentation requirements were met. The installation passed all acceptance tests at first attempt. The system entered service on schedule.

WHAT THIS PROJECT DEMONSTRATES
Why This Project Matters for Your Evaluation
✓ Direct oil and gas sector experience — not a first project in the sector
✓ Vinyl ester FRP specification for aggressive produced water service — we know the chemistry
✓ Full project documentation capability — material certs, test records, close-out docs to IOC standard
✓ H2S environment competence — the hardest corrosion environment in Nigeria, delivered without issue
✓ NNPC as a named, verifiable client — not a confidential reference
